Pobotschino ( Russian Побочино ) is a village (selo) with 1069, mostly German inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010) in the Omsk Oblast ( Russia ).
geography
The village is located almost 100 kilometers southwest of the oblast center, the megacity of Omsk , not far from the border with Kazakhstan . It belongs to the Odessky Raion and is about 20 kilometers to the west from its center Odesskoye . Pobotschino is the seat and only locality of the rural municipality Pobotschinskoje selskoje posselenije.
history
The first inhabitants of the village, founded in 1906, came from the village of the same name near Saratov in the Volga region . From 1989 the great emigration of the village residents to Germany began . In 2006 the inhabitants of the village celebrated the 100th anniversary. Many former residents of the village who had traveled from Germany also took part in the celebrations.
economy
The place is the seat of the farm of the same name Pobotschino SAO, which produces food and feed. The company was founded as a kolkhoz Tschapajewo and converted into a closed joint stock company in 1992.
