The bridge Podul Muncii ( German  bridge of work ) is located in the western Romanian city of Timișoara and crosses the Bega in the II. District Iosefin . The bridge is located west of the Timișoara hydropower plant and is 5.52 kilometers away. Motorized individual traffic and trolleybus traffic are carried over them.

Other names for the bridge are Podul de la Autogară , Podul de la Fabrica de Tutun , and Podul Regal in Romanian , and Király hid in Hungarian .

history

The bridge was originally built in 1913 on the site of an old wooden bridge that had been repaired in 1898. The state tobacco factory in Iosefin , which was the largest employer in the city around 1900, was operated near the bridge . The Romanian name Podul de la Fabrica de Tutun was also derived from this. The city harbor and the 1914 water tower in Iosefin are also in the vicinity. The slightly arched bridge was reinforced in 1936 and 1968 and rebuilt in 1978 using prestressed concrete. Today it is 72.5 meters long.
