The place is about one kilometer south of Egenhofen on the county road FFB1.

history

The name Poigern appears for the first time around 1152 in the form "Puigern". This could mean the " people at the bend in the river". When the river bends, the Glonn is meant. In the late 16th century the place name appears as "Peugern".

In 1264 Poigern was added to the parish of Egenhofen. Before it belonged to the parish of Günzlhofen. In the second half of the 12th century Poigern is the seat of ministerials , probably the Counts of Dachau . Around 1440 a village court of the Munich citizen Wetzel is attested.

During the Thirty Years' War the village is reduced from 26 to 3 households.

In 1752 13 properties are recorded.

In 1818 Poigern is incorporated into the municipality of Oberweikertshofen. The census of December 1, 1900 shows that there were 87 people in twelve households (41 male, 46 female). In 1918 Poigern was connected to the public telephone network. In the course of the regional reform in 1978 Poigern was incorporated into Egenhofen as part of the formerly independent municipality of Oberweikertshofen .
