The Rivière Blanche (also: La Rivière Blanche , Rio Blanche ; English: White River ; in the lower reaches: Pointe Mulatre River ) is one of the main rivers of Dominica . It runs to the east coast in Parish Saint Patrick .

geography

The Rivière Blanche rises in the summit area in the northeast of the Morne Watt , especially in the Valley of Desolation ( ) and with a second source stream as an outflow of the Boiling Lake . At the rear of the mountains the source streams of the River Ouayaneri and Trois Pitons River arise . The river initially runs to the southeast, towards the Grande Soufrière Hills , through which it is pushed further south and receives further source streams from the left and east. Another spring stream, Cold Water (r, W), also comes from the eastern flank of Morne Watt . The river soon leaves the national park area. From the right and west, further streams flow from the southern foothills of the Morne Watt, among other nameless rivers the Cold Water Stream , which flows into the Rivière Blanche, where it almost enters the lowlands. The river then turns to the east and forms the Victoria Falls a little west of Delicés , after another tributary flows from the north and left from the southern flank of the Grande Soufriére Hills. There the river turns again, stronger to the east and continues in wild meander loops to the southeast. The Rivière Jack , which also draws its water from the southern foothills of the Morne Watt and from the eastern flank of Foundland , flows into Laroche . Then the Rivière changes its name again and continues under the name Pointe Mulatre River (Pte. Mulatre River). In this lower course, the river runs largely parallel to the neighboring River Subaya to the north . The main street ( Petite Savene Delicés Road ) runs between the two rivers. At Pointe Mulatre Estate it still receives an inflow from the right and south through the River Claire . Then it flows into the Atlantic at Savane Mahaut ( Ford ) just a few meters south of the River Subaya and south of Pointe Mulatre in Pointe Mulatre Bay .

The Ravine Fond Cirique and Petite Savane River flow into the same bay further south, along with other nameless rivers.
