Pokhariya ( Nepali पोखरीया ) is a city (municipality) in the Parsa district in the central Terai of Nepal .
Pokhariya is 14 km west-northwest of Birganj . The city of Pokhariya was created in 2014 from the merger of the Village Development Committees Basantpur , Govindapur , Pokhariya , Sirsiya Khalwatola and Surjaha . The urban area covers 26 km².
Residents
At the 2011 census, the VDCs from which the city of Pokhariya emerged had 27,672 inhabitants (14,221 male) in 4075 households.
