The Polist ( Russian Поли́сть ) is a left tributary of the Lowat in the Russian oblasts of Pskov and Novgorod .
The Polist has its origin in the 31.6 km² large lake Polisto in the Pskov Oblast. From there it flows in a north-northeast direction through the administrative districts of Poddorje and Staraya Russa in the southwest of Novgorod Oblast. The river runs largely through a high moor area . 22 km above the estuary it passes the middle town of Staraya Russa . There Porusja meets the policeman from the right. The Polist finally flows on the left into the Lowat, 15 km above its mouth in the Ilmensee .
The Polist has a length of 176 km. It drains an area of 3630 km². It is mainly fed by the snowmelt . The mean discharge is 22 m³ / s. The river is ice-covered between late November and mid-April.
At least earlier, the Polist was used for rafting . The river is navigable as far as Staraya Russa .
