action

In one company, worker Kuhl, known as "Kulle", is killed by a collapsing hall floor. Captain Peter Fuchs and Lieutenant Vera Arndt take over the investigation. It turns out two things: Kulle was already dead when the ceiling collapsed. After the injuries, he was beaten to death with an iron bar or similar tool. According to safety inspector Dieter, the ceiling was also provided with new beams six months ago. Now you can see that the old beams were just turned over. Widow Kuhl cannot believe that her husband did dishonest things. Nor does she know who was trying to hurt him. However, she has noticed that Kulle has been reluctant to go to work for the past few weeks.

Suddenly, worker Fred Huebner turned himself in to the police. He says that Kulle once took him in. Fred no longer has any parents or relatives; Thanks to the accommodation, he now had a short commute to work. Kulle and his wife Hanne soon became surrogate parents and so Kulle took it with him when Fred moved in with his great love, the innkeeper’s daughter Doris. She lived in the same house as her parents and Kulle predicted that Fred wouldn't have much to say in the relationship because of the dominance of the in-laws. Fred and Doris got married and in fact, life in the in-laws' house soon became too cramped for Fred. One day Kulle told him that a neighbor wanted to sell her house. Fred asked his father-in-law for money, but he refused because Doris belongs in his house. Fred saw an opportunity to make money when Kulle got the new hall floorboards delivered to the factory. He wanted to convince Kulle to just turn the old boards over and sell the new ones because that would give him the money to buy the house. Kulle, however, abruptly refused. Fred sold the boards without Kulle's knowledge and later gave him a portion of the proceeds. Kulle, who did not want to betray his best friend, now turned the boards so that the dizziness would not be noticed.

The investigators tell Fred that Kulle did not die from falling through the ground, but was slain. Fred, however, has an alibi for the time between the murder and the break in of the ceiling. The investigation is now taking a turn. The body was found by worker Schliese, who stated that it was 5:30 p.m. at the time. At this time, Kulle's watch had stopped, which set the time of the accident and the time of death to be simultaneous. During that time, Schliese stood with worker Uhlig not far from the hall. Schliese drew Uhlig's attention to a noise that Uhlig hadn't heard, and they both found the body. What the investigators only learn from Kulle's widow is that Kulle's clock was over an hour ahead of the day. As always, Kulle had set the clock correct early, so that it must have gone half an hour ahead around 5.30 p.m. So Schliese had half an hour to cover up the murder and look for an alibi - in this case, colleague Uhlig. In his confession, Schliese stated that he saw Kulle turning the bars at the time. Since then he has blackmailed Kulle, rarely came to work and left early. Kulle covered him by necessity and charged him the full wages. When he wanted to get out, Schliese reminded him of his bar action and Kulle got angry. Schliese killed him in an argument.
