Polonism
As Polonism refers terms and words from the Polish language , the way in other languages found. Such an influence was expressed in the adoption of words from the Polish language, especially in East Slavic languages (Belarusian, Ukrainian, Russian) and German.
Examples of polonisms in German
- Border - from Polish granica
- Cucumber - from Polish ogórek
- Dalli! - from Polish dalej ("Continue!")
- Ogonek - German tail
- Rendzina - from Polish Rędzina
- Goldfinch (Polish szczygieł ), siskin (Polish czyżyk ) and other bird species
- Saber - probably via the Polish szabla
