The Jihlava Polytechnic University ( Vysoká škola polytechnická Jihlava , VŠPJ in Czech) was established in 2004 as the first non-university Czech public university. It consists of chairs. The university is headed by a rector . Bachelor's degrees are currently offered in the fields of finance, tourism, IT, and healthcare and nursing.

History of origin

In the 1950s there was a short pedagogical institute in Jihlava . Later part of the Brno Agricultural University was moved to Jihlava. In 1994 this university decided to stop teaching activities again. In 1994 a school was founded in Jihlava with a high school diploma , with the aim of later converting it into an independent university. In 2004, the Jihlava Polytechnic was founded by a legal resolution.
