Polyxena of Hessen-Rotenburg
Polyxena von Hessen-Rotenburg (born September 21, 1706 in Langenschwalbach , † January 13, 1735 in Turin ) was the second wife of Karl Emanuel III. , ( Italian : Carlo Emanuele III. ), King of Sardinia and Duke of Savoy .
Polyxena was a daughter of Landgrave Ernst Leopold von Hessen-Rotenburg (* 1684; † 1749) and his wife Eleonore Maria Anna von Löwenstein-Wertheim and great-granddaughter of Landgrave Ernst I of Hesse-Rheinfels-Rotenburg (* 1623; † 1693). From 1720 until her marriage she was canon at Thorn Abbey and from 1721 also at Essen Abbey , where her revolt was presented on September 21, 1721 .
The marriage was concluded on July 23, 1724 in Thonon . The children sprang from her:
- Viktor Amadeus III. (26 June 1726 - 16 October 1796), King of Sardinia
- Eleonore Maria (February 28, 1728 - August 14, 1781), Princess of Savoy.
- Maria Luisa (March 25, 1729 - June 22, 1767), Princess of Savoy.
- Maria Felicite (March 19, 1730 - May 13, 1801), Princess of Savoy.
- Giovanni Carlo (May 17, 1731 - April 23, 1735), Duke of Aosta
- Carlo Francesco (23 July 1733 - 28 December 1733), Duke of Chablais
