Pomnik historii (Kraków)
As Pomnik historii w Krakowie ( German historical monument ) are three monument and building complexes in the city of Krakow . The Pomnik historii are of great importance for the cultural heritage of Poland and were established by decree of the President of the Republic of Poland .
Historic city complex
The " Historical Center of Krakow " was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978 . This was declared on September 16, 1994 by presidential decree of Lech Wałęsa to be expanded to include further districts, Pomnik historii. In addition, these areas and their individual monuments have been on the national list of monuments of today's Lesser Poland Voivodeship since the 1930s .
The designated area "Historyczny zespół miasta" (Historical City Complex ) includes:
- World heritage area
- Extended area
- Kazimierz (extended)
- Nowy Świat
- Piasek
- Podgórze (area of Josefstadt )
- Parts of Wesoła (excluding the Nowe Miasto )
Benedictine Abbey of Tyniec
The Benedictine Abbey of Tyniec was designated as Pomnik historii on March 30, 2017.
The three monasteries Tyniec, Bielany and Salwator were candidates for UNESCO World Heritage from 1993 to 1996.
Kościuszko hill and its surroundings
The 34-meter-high Kościuszko Hill on the Sankt Bronisława Hill was designated as Pomnik historii on December 8, 2017. It was filled in between 1820 and 1823 and has been a listed building since 1936.
