Pontificio Istituto di Archeologia Cristiana
The Pontificio Istituto di Archeologia Cristiana (PIAC) ( Pontifical Institute for Christian Archeology ) is an institute for the study and teaching of Christian archeology in Rome .
The Pontifical Institute for Christian Archeology was founded in 1925 by a papal motu proprio from Pope Pius XI. founded next to the Pontificia Accademia Romana di Archeologia and the Pontificia Commissione di Archeologia Sacra .
The institute only offers a three-year postgraduate course in Christian archeology, which includes subjects such as the history of Christian archeology, topography , iconography and hagiography , epigraphy and architecture . Admission requirement is a completed first degree, degrees are baccalaureate, licentiate and doctorate. The current rector is Danilo Mazzoleni , the secretary is Carmelo Pappalardo.
Together with the Pontificia Commissione di Archeologia Sacra, the PIAC is the publisher of the Rivista di Archeologia Cristiana and other monographs. The institute is the permanent seat of the Congressi Internazionali di Archeologia Cristiana .
