Porodaedalea is a genus of fungus that has been separated from the fire sponges in the narrower sense ( Phellinus  s. Str. ).

The type species is the pine fire sponge ( Porodaedalea pini ).

features

The large hymenophore of the wood dwellers is perennial, sedentary and shell- to hoof-shaped. The surface is furrowed and usually rough. The brown trama has a woody consistency. The tubes of the same color are seldom arranged in clear layers. The hymenophore varies from poroid to labyrinthine. The smooth-walled spores are colorless and turn brownish with age. The cystids are noticeable.
