Pottscheid (also Pottscheidt ) is an estate in Königswinter , a town in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia , which was built in its current form at the end of the 19th century. He stands as an example of court architecture of the 1920s, in which the complex material changes learned as a monument under monument protection .

location

Gut Pottscheid is a good one kilometer east of the city center of Königswinter at a good 145  m above sea level. NHN , south of the state road 331 (Königswinter– Ittenbach ) in the wooded valley between Petersberg and Hirschberg . The Wintermühlenhof is on the opposite side of the street .

history

The origins of the estate lie in a “Kackenest” estate, which is said to date back to the Middle Ages and initially belonged to the Altenberg Abbey . In 1402 it became the property of the Heisterbach monastery . The estate was probably destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and then part of the nearby Wintermühlenhof. In 1885 the Pottscheid residential area was uninhabited; in 1905 it had 22 residents. The core of today's courtyard complex was built as a three-wing complex at the end of the 19th century, and in 1923 it was extensively modified through a redesign and expansion. Gut Pottscheid has been the headquarters of Heel Verlag since 1998 . In terms of ownership, it is still connected to the Wintermühlenhof and belongs to the Streve-Mülhens family.

The Pottscheid estate was entered in the town of Königswinter's list of monuments on September 21, 1989.

architecture

The Pottscheid estate has an H-shaped floor plan. The original residential building is a two-storey brick building with a gable roof in the southeast of the complex, connected to a stable building by a connecting wing (including a gate ). The newer house from 1923 is a two-story, hip- roof plastered building, the ground floor of which is made of quarry stone . At the rear it is shaped by a three-storey round tower, also made of quarry stone, which houses the entrance.
