Poul Robert Weile (born June 14, 1954 in Nyborg , Denmark ) is a Danish visual artist living in Berlin .

Live and act

From 1979 to 1984 Poul R. Weile trained as a sculptor at the Art Academy Fyn Denmark. He did not want to meet the demands of the academy to choose between painting and sculpture. At the beginning of the 1980s, he dealt with a wide variety of media.

His diverse work includes sculpture , drawing , graphics , photography and painting through to installation , happenings , performance and video art . He mixes these different forms of expression within his work completely impartially. He also brings everyday objects, kitsch and elements from his private life into his art. He is fundamentally interested in the phenomenon of combined visual language. This opens up a wide range of possibilities to combine fragments of various kinds and to connect them. The idea determines the choice of its material.

In 1985 Poul R. Weile founded Den Fri Kunstskole / The Free School of Art in Odense, Denmark. He directed the school for a three-year art education until 1993. Today the school no longer exists. In his classes, Poul R. Weile places great value on developing the perception of the individual. His approach is based on what you see. Art is a language that, in Weile's teaching, is defined by the dialogue between individuals and their works. In 1998, Poul R. Weile initiated Prospekt ART , an art education for mentally handicapped students. Until 2009 he was artistic director in art education and worked as an art teacher at Ryslinge Højskole in 2003.

In the period from 2003 until today, Poul R. Weile has repeatedly worked as curator and co-curator of and for Days of ART & Love , Kunstfestival / Conference of ARTS Odense (2003 - today), list & ast & list Kunstfestival / Conference of 25 artists in all fields, Nordic House - Reykjavík (2009) and ARTVILLE , the art fair of Denmark (2004). In 2008 Poul R. Weiles' artistic projects led to Berlin, where he has lived and worked ever since.
