Power snack
The power snack ( high- energy bar), also known as an energy bar, power bar, or sports bar , is usually a high-calorie food supplement that can be obtained in health food stores , sports shops or supermarkets.
Essentially, these are high- sugar and high-fat bars which, although they can be a useful dietary supplement for athletes , lead to overeating and thus obesity in everyday life .

The first Power Bar was launched for the Pillsbury Company by Robert Muller, the inventor of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) concept . The bars with the name “Space Food Sticks” are a replica of the first solid food that was consumed by an astronaut in space. These were small cubes of dried bananas that Scott Carpenter consumed on board the Aurora 7 in 1962 . Today the Space Food Sticks are manufactured by Retrofuture Products in Port Washington (New York) . Since then, numerous variations of energy bars have been produced and numerous target groups have been addressed. 2012, sales (combined for granola bars and energy bars) in the US at 5.7 billion US dollars .

Sports bars usually contain glucose syrup , fructose syrup , milk protein , sucrose , whey powder , vegetable fat, cocoa butter , whole milk powder , protein hydrolyzate , maltodextrin , dextrose , cocoa mass, vegetable protein, rice extrudate , lecithin , various vitamins , niacin and aroma , but are depending on the manufacturer also Deviations possible. Dried bananas are treated without sulfur in a high-speed dryer.
