Power Quest is an international power metal band from Great Britain .

biography

Power Quest was founded in Southampton in March 2001 by keyboardist Steve Williams, who had previously left the London power metal band DragonForce . He was supported by bassist Steve Scott, who was also a member of DragonForce until then.

Shortly afterwards, two guitarists, Sam Totman (co-founder of DragonForce ) and Adam Bickers, joined the team, with whose support the first demo was recorded in 2001 and uploaded to MP3.com .

In April 2002 the band was strengthened by the singer Alessio Garavello, who presented the vocal templates for the band's debut album (Wings of Forever) in June 2002. Garavello was accompanied by the guitarist of his band, Arthemis, Andrea Martongelli, who contributed some passages to the new album. After the album was released, Adam Bickers left the band, whereupon Power Quest integrated Andrea Martongelli firmly into the band as a replacement.

In January 2003 the drummer Andre Bargmann joined, who left the band in July of the same year and was initially replaced by Gavin Ward. In March 2004, the band's second album (Neverworld) was released. After the release of Neverworld , Sam Totman left the band for good to devote himself exclusively to his band DragonForce .

In November 2004 the band began recording their 3rd studio album Magic Never Dies, which was released in 2005 on the Majestic Rock Records label.

In February 2005, Francesco Tresca became the band's new drummer.

At the end of 2005 / beginning of 2006 the band celebrated great success with their “Magic Never Dies Tour” through Europe .

In August 2006, Power Quest decided to make the previous singer Alessio Garavello the band's second guitarist at the same time, as this position had not been filled since Bicker left in 2003.

In 2007 the band signed a contract with Napalm Records .

In December 2007 keyboardist Steve Williams announced in the official Power Quest Forum 5 guest appearances on the 4th album (Master Of Illusion). On the one hand there was guitarist Bill Hudson from the North American power metal band Cellador , who played an instrumental passage in the track "The Virgil". The second was Richard West of the English progressive metal band Threshold . He supported the band with a keyboard solo in Human Machine . The third guest was Jorn Viggo Lofstad, known from the Norwegian band Pagan's Mind , who accompanied Power Quest on their tour in 2006. Also Chris Neighbor from the band FourwayKill and Bob Katsionis ( Firewind ).

On April 25th the album Master Of Illusion was released in Europe.

In June 2008, Power Quest announced that guitarist Bill Hudson had joined the band. Hudson was already a guest on the track The Virgil of the album Master Of Illusion .

In early January 2009 bassist and co-founder Steve Scott left the band to live in New Zealand . Just one month later, Power Quest presented a successor with Oliver Holzwarth . Holzwarth has been a member of the German metal band Blind Guardian since 1997 .

In April 2009, Steve Williams announced that Power Quest and guitarist Bill Hudson would go their separate ways in the future. The reason for this was that Hudson was the only band member living in the USA .

In July 2009, Power Quest announced that lead singer Alessio Garavello would leave the band after seven years. In September 2009 Andrea Martongelli, Francesco Tresca and Oliver Holzwarth also left the band, so that only keyboardist Steve Williams remained of the former line-up. A short time later the new line-up was introduced. They were singer Pete Morten, guitarists Andy Midgley and Ben Randall, and drummer Rich Smith and bassist Paul Finnie.

In May 2010 there were again changes in the line-up. After Pete Morten and Ben Randall left the band, singer Chitral Somapala and guitarist Gavin Owen were hired.

In September 2011 Colin Callanan replaced the singer Chitral Somapala.

On January 10, 2013, the band announced their upcoming breakup, but announced on April 1, 2016 that the band had re-founded and would already be working on a new album. The new album is called Sixth Dimension and was released in October 2017.
