Poxdorf is a village with about 140 inhabitants in the municipality of Königsfeld in the eastern district of Bamberg .

history

Together with the neighboring village of Laibarös, Poxdorf formed its own municipality in the former district of Ebermannstadt , but was then assigned to the municipality of Königsfeld on April 1, 1971.

Poxdorf had its own single-class dwarf school , which, however, was only attended by school children from Poxdorf. In 1969 it was incorporated into the Königsfeld Association School and only had one class before it was closed completely a few years later.

The Catholic village chapel with its remarkable glass windows from the 1960s is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul , whose patronage is celebrated on June 29th.

Construction of the church began in 1911 and was completed in 1927. The choir tower connects to the east. In the front wall of the choir there is a large stone mosaic with the risen Christ. The lintel of the portal bears a coat of arms with the symbols of the main Christian virtues of faith, hope and love . The facade of the nave is structured by colored concrete glass windows. In this technique, thick, colored chunks of glass are connected to concrete. These works come from Hubert Weber, who was born in Staffelstein in 1920 .

The stained glass windows on the left contain the symbols of the Eucharist : chalice, pelican and ears of wheat. The opposite windows bear the symbols of the church patron, St. Peter: rooster, key, sword and ear.
