Presidential election in Greece 2020
The 2020 presidential election in Greece took place on January 22, 2020.
The independent Katerina Sakellaropoulou was the only candidate, was elected in the first ballot and sworn in as the country's first female president on March 13, 2020 .
legal framework
The election of the head of state is regulated in Article 32 of the Greek Constitution. A two-thirds majority was required in the first and second ballots; this corresponded to 200 votes out of 300. If the election had failed in the first two rounds, a number of votes of 180 would have been required in this case in the third attempt.

The incumbent President Prokopis Pavlopoulos was not proposed for re-election by the government.
