The Presto Type D was launched in 1921 by the Chemnitz automobile manufacturer Presto as the first car model after the First World War .
He had a four-cylinder - SV -Reihenmotor with 2.35 liters of displacement, the 30 hp at 2000 / min and made its power through a four-speed transmission with gear lever outside or forwarded inside right to the rear wheels. The engine was equipped with magneto ignition . The car had a U-profile pressed steel frame and two rigid axles that were suspended from semi-elliptical leaf springs. The mechanical footbrake worked on the cardan shaft , the handbrake on the rear wheels and (from 1925) on all four wheels. The vehicle was available as a six-seat touring car or six-seat sedan.
In 1925 the Presto Type E replaced the Type D. Its engine made 40 hp at 2500 rpm with the same displacement. The rear semi-elliptic leaf springs were replaced by Underslung specimens. Mechanical foot and hand brakes worked on all four wheels. The chassis and body had become a little longer and wider.
When production ended in 1927, a total of around 8,000 copies of the D and E types had been built. Successors were the six-cylinder models F and G .
