The EG 507 and EG 508 were electric locomotives of the Prussian State Railways , which were intended for local goods transport on the network of the Berlin city, ring and suburban railways . They were the successors of the EG 502–505 and the EG 506 . At the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft they were given the numbers E 70 07-08 .

history

In 1910, the Prussian State Railroad ordered ten locomotives with the D-wheel arrangement for covering local goods trains for the electrification network of Berlin's city, ring and suburban railways. Until the outbreak of the First World War , the contracted companies BMAG and MSW supplied two locomotives with the designation EG 507 and EG 508 . Due to the First World War, no more locomotives could be delivered. The KPEV used the locomotives on the Dessau – Bitterfeld line until 1914 . After the cessation of electrical operations as a result of the war, they were moved to Silesia to operate on the Niedersalzbrunn-Halbstadt route for freight traffic. The locomotive was there only a temporary solution, since the ordered locomotives ( Prussian EC 538abc to EC 549abc (later E 91.3) could not be delivered. After the spread of the electrical operation it wrong on other electrified lines in Silesia . The top speed was to reduced the test drives from 70 km / h to 50 km / h, which suggests that the locomotive does not run satisfactorily.

After the ordered freight locomotives appeared on the Silesian network, both locomotives were moved to Munich , where they performed shunting services at various stations. The E 70 07 was retired there in 1928 and the E 70 08 in 1938.

Constructive features

The locomotive was a single frame locomotive with a traction motor and rod drive . The two inner axes were firmly mounted in the frame, the first and fourth axes had a side play of ± 10 mm. The main frame was made of panel construction and reinforced by the buffer beam, cross stiffeners and the support connections for the engine. Compared to the previous locomotives, the locomotive only had one driver's cab in the vehicle body; the engine room in front of it was kept narrow and rounded at the front. A sheet metal cladding of the drive motor and the drive rods completed the width of the vehicle. The engine room had several lockable flaps, some with ventilation grilles. The locomotive had the Kzbr pneumatic brake , with which all axles were braked on both sides.

The main transformer was a core-type dry-type transformer cooled by the airflow. The traction motor was compensated AC - series motor . It had two commutators and two separate windings depending on the direction of travel. It was controlled via five contactors from the corresponding taps on the secondary winding of the transformer. The vehicle was designed for multiple control .
