The Princesse Marie-Astrid is a passenger ship and the fifth ship with this name. It sails under the flag of Luxembourg and is operated by the Entente touristique de la Moselle Luxembourgeoise asbl . Cruising areas are the Moselle , Saar and Rhine . It is named after Princess Marie-Astrid of Luxembourg . The Schengen Agreement was signed on June 14, 1985 on a predecessor ship .
history
The ship was laid down at the Lux shipyard in Mondorf in August 2009. On April 10, 2010, the ship was christened in Grevenmacher by Princess Marie-Astrid in the presence of her husband Archduke Carl Christian of Austria and the ministers Françoise Hetto and Octavie Modert.
Construction and technology
The Princesse Marie-Astrid is a gallery ship 60 meters long and 11.40 meters wide. The draft is 1.40 meters. It is approved for 500 people. The construction costs amounted to € 6 million. It is powered by two 6-cylinder in-line diesel engines of the type Volvo Penta D12-500 with 368 kW each at 1800 rpm on two Schottel SRP 200 rudder propellers . Two Volvo D9 M9 generator sets with 239 each are used for the power supply kW installed. A Schottel Pump-Jet SPJ 57 RD transverse thruster is installed in the forecastle .
Others
At Easter 2007 a 36 meter long pier was completed in Grevenmacher. This enables passengers to get on and off the boat safely at all water levels.
