from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The project company for the transport systems in the central area of Berlin (abbreviation PVZB ) was a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn that existed in the mid-1990s for the implementation of various railway and individual tram projects in the vicinity of Berlin Central Station and along the new north-south connection . The company, which was founded in 1994, was transferred to DB Projekt Node Berlin in 1996 .

history

On August 4, 1992, the Berlin Senate decided to found the company. It was due to start work in early 1993. Half of the state of Berlin and the other half of the Deutsche Reichsbahn should have a stake in the company, which is organized under private law . The leadership should lie with the Berlin Senate. The company should have been involved in the project with around 100 employees for ten years. These plans were initially not implemented.

The company was finally founded in 1994 as a subsidiary of the network division of Deutsche Bahn . Her assignment was the construction of railroad and road construction projects in Berlin's government district , including the Lehrter Bahnhof . The purpose of the company was "the preparation and control of planning and construction preparation, construction implementation and construction supervision including the awarding , coordination and handling of all work" for the following projects:

  1. For Deutsche Bahn, the four-track railway line (long-distance and regional trains) in the central area of Berlin, section Nordring and Papestrasse including the train stations Lehrter Bahnhof, Potsdamer Platz and Papestrasse.
  2. For the State of Berlin: subway, subway tunnel of the U5 line between Brandenburger Tor and Döberitzer Strasse and the city road tunnel between Heidestrasse and the Landwehrkanal.

The company was to invest 4.5 billion DM by 2002. Of this, DM 3.1 billion was accounted for by the railway facilities between the 8 km long section between the S-Bahn-Nordring and the Papestrasse station. Above-ground station buildings were not included in this total.

The company's share capital was DM 50,000. The sole founding managing director was Fritz Vollrath, the tunnel construction expert recruited by railway boss Heinz Dürr . According to his own statements, he was released at the end of 1994 after repeatedly criticizing the planning of Berlin Central Station as being unrealistic. Deutsche Bahn did not provide any information on this step.

The Berlin Senate decided on June 14, 1994 to join the company founded by Deutsche Bahn AG. The state of Berlin and Deutsche Bahn each held half in the company. In the 1995 financial year, the company had an average of 25 employees. The balance sheet total was 6.2 million DM.

In September 1996, the company was merged with the network projects Berlin division of DB to form DB Projekt GmbH Node Berlin . The new company initially employed around 400 people and was responsible for the new construction and expansion projects of Deutsche Bahn in the Berlin region. By resolution of the shareholders 'meeting on June 9, 1996, the shareholders' agreement was changed accordingly.

On January 1, 2000, this company was again merged with the planning company Bahnbau Deutsche Einheit . This ultimately resulted in DB Projekt Verkehrsbau , which in turn was converted into today's DB ProjektBau .
