Siegfried Knüpfer

Siegfried Knüpfer (born July 9, 1941 in Oelsnitz / Vogtl. ) Is a German railway engineer.

Career

Knüpfer completed an apprenticeship as a skilled worker for railway operations and traffic, then he worked in various positions in the shunting, signal box, traffic and driving service of the Deutsche Reichsbahn . From 1960 to 1964 he studied railway operations technology at the engineering school for industrial and traffic engineering in Gotha . He then worked in various positions at various posts and at the Reichsbahnamt Zwickau . From 1966 to 1972 he studied further at the University of Transport in the field of railway construction.

This was followed by various positions at the Reichsbahndirektion Erfurt , including as head of operations management, the main investment department and vice-president responsible for transport organization and vehicles. On June 17, 1992 he was appointed President of the Reichsbahndirektion Erfurt. For the newly founded Deutsche Bahn AG , he was appointed as the management representative for the state of Thuringia.

Subsequently, on April 1, 1996, Knüpfer was appointed the new spokesman for the management of the planning company Bahnbau Deutsche Einheit . Later he was managing director of DB Projekt Verkehrsbau .

On May 15, 2004 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia .

Private life

Knüpfer is married, has two children and lives in Erfurt (status: 1992).
