Promises was a pop group formed in Thousand Oaks , California .
biography
The band Promises consisted of the three siblings Leslie Maria Knauer (born August 20, 1957 in Vancouver , vocals), Jed Knauer (born July 17, 1955 in Toronto , guitar, piano) and Benny (Benjamin) Knauer (born October 21, 1958 in Vancouver, keyboards). Her father, Peter Knauer, was born in Hamburg and moved with his children from Canada to California in the late 1960s. He was the group's manager and played keyboards.
In February 1979, the family band had their only big hit with the single Baby It's You . The song reached number 4 on the German charts, number 11 in Switzerland and number 20 in the Netherlands. It rose to first place in Australia and New Zealand. The album Promises , recorded by California producer Steve Verroca, was also quite successful. The second single, Let's Get Back Together , only reached number 18 in the German charts.
Leslie Knauer (later Knauer-Wasser) later became a member of the groups Precious Metal and Kanary and sang two songs for the Dennis Hopper film Choke .
