The Providence Stadium (also: National Stadium ) is the largest sports facility in Guyana and is located a few kilometers south of the capital, Georgetown . The construction costs of the cricket and multi-purpose stadium were about 25 million US dollars and it was largely on the Indian funded state.

Capacity and infrastructure

It has 15,000 seats and 5,000 standing places and can also be used for other sports, such as B. football can be used. The two wicket ends are named Media Center End and Pavilion End .

history

The stadium was built for the 2007 Cricket World Cup . The start of construction was delayed due to flooding in the region and construction of the stadium could not begin until May 2007. In addition to cricket , the stadium also serves as a venue for other sports such as rugby and football .

National cricket

The stadium is the home stadium of the Guyana cricket team and, since 2013, the home stadium of the Guyana Amazon Warriors , who play in the Caribbean Premier League .
