Caribbean Premier League
The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) (motto: "Biggest Party in Sport") is the national Twenty20 cricket competition in the British West Indies . It was introduced in 2013 as the successor to the Caribbean Twenty20 and is operated with a franchise system based on the model of the Indian Premier League . Until 2014, the finalists were able to qualify for the annual Champions League Twenty20 . The league is currently called Hero CPL for sponsorship reasons . The current Caribbean Premier League 2018 took place from August 8 to September 16, 2017. The current defending champion is Trinbago Knight Riders .

Six franchises are currently participating in the CPL. Each franchise has 15 players under contract, of which a maximum of four may be from abroad and at least four of them must be under 23 years of age.
