Industrial gas

Industrial gas is the name for all gases produced on a large industrial scale or used in industry. In addition, gaseous hydrocarbons for combustion are industrial gases. In contrast to the term technical gases , the term industrial gas is not a specification of the purity of the substance .

Industrial gases are categorized according to their origin or use:

• Atmospheric gases, e.g. B. Nitrogen (N ₂ ), Oxygen (O ₂ ), Argon (Ar)
• Process gases, e.g. B. hydrogen (H ₂ ), helium (He), ethene (ethylene, C ₂ H ₄ ), ethyne (acetylene, C ₂ H ₂ ), carbon dioxide (CO ₂ ), carbon monoxide (CO)
• Noble gases , e.g. B. Xenon (Xe), Neon (Ne), Krypton (Kr)
• Gases for medical applications with special manufacturing requirements, e.g. B. ( Oxygen , nitrous oxide , nitrogen and mixtures such as Carbogen ).

Industrial gases are used in various degrees of purity and for various specified purposes. So as food gases or medical gases .
