Przemysław "Przemek" Marcin Karnowski (born November 8, 1993 in Bydgoszcz ) is a Polish basketball player. From 2012 to 2017 the center played for Gonzaga University in the NCAA , and since 2017 he has played for Twarde Pierniki Toruń in the Polish PLK . Karnowski is also a national player for Poland .
Career
Karnowski started his career at Pierniki Toruń . After a year he moved to SMS Wladyslawowo , before he moved to Siarka Jezioro Tarnobrzeg in 2011 , where he made his debut in the top division PLK . In the same year he was part of the world selection at the Nike Hoop Summit against an American junior selection. In 35 games this season, Karnowski scored 10.1 points and 4.4 rebounds for Tarnobrzeg and was named PLK Rookie of the Year. After the season he decided to move to the USA and go to an American college.
In 2012 he moved to Gonzaga University . Due to a back injury, Karnowski missed almost the entire fourth year of college. Because of this, he was noted as a " Redshirt ", which meant he was eligible to play for the 2016-17 season and a fifth year of college. Karnowski left the Bulldogs as the player with the most wins in Division I college history with 132 college wins, ahead of Shane Battier . Karnowski also received his Master of Business Administration degree and was appointed to the WCC All-Academic Team 2016-17 for his good performance.
In the 2017 NBA draft , he was not selected by any team. Although he made the jump into the squad of the Charlotte Hornets for the summer league of the NBA , but earned no NBA contract. Instead, Karnowski signed a contract with MoraBanc Andorra in Andorra , which participate in the Spanish first division ACB . In summer 2018 he moved to Poland, where he will play for Twarde Pierniki Toruń .
National team
At the 2010 U17 World Cup in Hamburg, he won the silver medal with Poland and was named the best center player of the tournament by the website Eurobasket.com. The Gonzaga University scout , who had traveled to Hamburg to examine Canadian Kevin Pangos, was impressed by Karnowski's achievements during the World Cup, which later led Gonzaga to offer him and Pangos scholarships, which they both accepted.
Karnowski debuted for the first time against Montenegro on August 3, 2012. He was part of the squad of the Polish national basketball team at the 2013 European basketball championship in Slovenia .
