Bàsquet Club Andorra , also known under the sponsor name MoraBanc Andorra , is an Andorran basketball club from the capital Andorra la Vella . The club is a member of the Federación Española de Baloncesto and thus participates in the Spanish league. The first team plays in the ACB league . The home games are played in the Poliesportiu d'Andorra with a capacity of 5,000 .

history

The club was founded on June 12, 1970 as Club de Basket Les Escaldes . A year later, the club changed its name to Bàsquet Club Andorra and enrolled in the Catalan Basketball Regional Association in order to be able to participate in competitions of the Federación Española de Baloncesto (Spanish Basketball Association). In the 1991/92 season BC Andorra sat in the second division, the Primera División , through and thus rose to the ACB league . Here the club should contest four seasons and achieved its best result in 1994/95 with eighth place. In the Spanish Cup , BC Andorra failed in the quarter-finals. In the 1995/96 season , the club was represented in the Korać Cup , where the Andorrans prevailed in the first two rounds against ABC Trodat Wels and KK Vojvodina Novi Sad and thus surprisingly reached the group stage, where, however, Anadolu Efes SK , Pallacanestro Varese and Panionios Athens failed. In the league, the club landed in 19th place and thus rose to the second-rate LEB . Due to financial difficulties, BC Andorra was downgraded to the regional league in 1997. After numerous seasons in lower class divisions, the club managed to return to the LEB in the 2012/13 season.

The first year in the second division, the club finished in third place and in the final of the promotion playoff the team failed 3-2 to CB Lucentum Alicante . In the 2013/14 season BC Andorra won the league and thus secured promotion to the ACB league. In the 2018/19 season they reached the semi-finals of the Eurocup against Alba Berlin.
