Pskovavia ( Russian Псковавиа ) was a Russian passenger and cargo airline based in the northwestern Russian city of Pskov . The airline's hub is at the local airport. It mainly operates regional flights in scheduled and charter traffic in northwest Russia . National and international cargo flights are also offered.

history

Pskovavia was founded in 1944 and belonged to Aeroflot - like all airlines there - until the end of the Soviet Union . Under their umbrella, she was responsible for the area around Pskow. The airline was converted into a joint stock company, in which Pskov Oblast has held all shares since January 2014. In 2015, the flights were on average 67% busy. The airline is therefore working in deficit and is dependent on government support. Thus, in 2015, the airline received subsidies from the budget of the Russian Federation (203 million  rubles ) and the Pskov Oblast (48 million rubles). Despite this, an audit in November 2016 revealed debts in the amount of 250 million rubles, despite the debts, flight operations continued. With the help of subsidies and financing, all restrictions imposed by the Russian civil aviation authority were lifted in February 2017.

The airline has been in a serious financial crisis since the beginning of 2018. In January there were defaults in the payment of wages for the more than 250 employees, who in turn turned to the governor of Pskov Oblast with a request that companies not go bankrupt. At that time, the oblast was already supporting the airline with 6 to 10 million rubles a month. On April 2, 2018, Rosawiazia suspended the airline's license at their own request from April 3, 2018 until further notice. According to the General Director of Pskovavia, this should serve to gain time to resolve complaints from an investigation by the Russian Aviation Agency in February 2018. At that time, the license had been extended by a month with restrictions. If the complaints had not been resolved by April 3, 2018, the license would have been withdrawn entirely. As of September 2018, the license was not granted again.

aims

The only two passenger destinations that were regularly served are from Pskov to Moscow and St. Petersburg . In addition, there are currently passenger connections from St. Petersburg to Apatity , Kotlas , Kursk and Vladimir . In addition, passenger flights are offered in charter operations on predominantly Russian national connections and national and international cargo flights.
