Publius Cornelius Lentulus Spinther († 42 BC ) was a Roman senator and politician during the crisis of the Roman Republic in the middle of the 1st century BC. Chr.

Publius Cornelius Lentulus Spinther belonged to the branch of the Lentuli of the Cornelier family . His father Publius Cornelius Lentulus Spinther , follower of Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus , supporter of Marcus Tullius Cicero and opponent of Gaius Iulius Caesar , was 57 BC. Chr. Consul . Publius was since 57 BC Chr. Augur . He divorced his wife Caecilia Metella because of her allegedly relaxed way of life (45 BC). Publius was probably not an open opponent of Caesar during the civil war in which his father was killed. After his murder, however, he joined the Caesar murderers . 44 BC He started the course honorum as quaestor . The following year he was sent to the province of Asia as Proquaestor ( pro praetore , representing a Praetor ) , where he got into an armed conflict with Dolabella . Here he also had his own coins minted. 43/42 BC He served as a legate under Gaius Cassius Longinus and was involved in the military operations against Rhodes and Myra . He was killed after the Battle of Philippi .
