Puccinia actaeae-agropyri is a stand fungal art from the order of the rust fungi (Pucciniales). The fungus is an endoparasite of buttercups and couch grass . Symptoms of infestation by the species are yellow spots of rust and pustules on the leaf surfaces of the host plants. The distribution area covers large parts of Eurasia .

features

Puccinia actaeae-agropyri can only be recognized with the naked eye by means of the spore beds protruding on the surface of the host. They grow in nests that appear as yellowish to brown or blackish spots and pustules on the leaf surfaces.

The mycelium of Puccinia actaeae-agropyri grows as with all Puccinia TYPES intercellular and forms Saugfäden that grow into the storage tissue of the host. Your pyknia are honey-colored. The aecia of the species grow in loose groups and form whitish to brown spots. They have irregularly rounded aecidiospores of 17–21 × 17–21  µm , which are light yellow and warty. The uredia are scattered, elongated and pale brown. Their uredospores are spherical to slightly ellipsoidal, 18-25 × 18-25 µm in size, colorless to light brownish and warty. The Telien the type are colored streifchenförmig and black. The teleutospores are two-celled, variably shaped and 32–45 × 14–25 µm in size. They are brownish, their stem is very short.

distribution

Puccinia actaeae-agropyri has a distribution area that extends across all of Eurasia.

ecology

The host plants of Puccinia actaeae-agropyri are as Haplont buttercups (Ranunculaceae spp.) And couch grass ( Elymus spp.) For the dikaryote . The fungus feeds on the nutrients present in the storage tissue of the plants, its spore beds later break through the leaf surface and release spores. The species has a development cycle with pycnias, uredia, telia and aecidia.
