Pulau Baru-Baru (also as an administrative unit: Kampong Pulau Baru-Baru ) is a small island at the mouth of the Brunei River in Brunei .

geography

The island is part of the Seria Anticline and, as part of the Brunei Inner Bar, forms an offshoot of the Limbang , Malaysia , which stretches from southwest to northeast into Brunei Bay . This formation also includes the neighboring island of Pulau Pepatan in the north, which is only separated from Pulau Baru-Baru by a narrow channel and the Simpang 747 . Due to the folding of the layers, numerous ridges run parallel to each other, and so the islands of Pulau Chermin and Pulau Kaingaran as well as Pulau Berambang in the west form foothills of the neighboring ridge.

Pulau Baru-Baru itself rises only a few meters above the water level. Today it is densely forested and a dam was built on the north bank for the construction of the Simpang 747. There is a small residential complex on the island, as well as some huts on the south bank.

A canal about 500 m wide and the Temburong Bridge separate the island from Pulau Berbunot further south.
