Royal Caribbean Group Ltd. (Royal Caribbean Cruises until July 2020) is a cruise company with headquarters in Monrovia and operational headquarters in Miami . The company is the world's second largest cruise company. It has the five subsidiaries Celebrity Cruises , Royal Caribbean International , Pullmantur (which also includes the airline Wamos Air ), Azamara Club Cruises and Silversea Cruises . The company also holds 50 percent of the shares in TUI Cruises .
Royal Caribbean Group's shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange and the Oslo Stock Exchange and are included in the S&P 500 . In the past, Royal Caribbean was also included in the OBX index .
history
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. was formed in 1997 after Royal Caribbean Cruise Line bought Celebrity Cruises , with two brands remaining, only Royal Caribbean Cruise Line switched to Royal Caribbean International. Thus, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. the same mother for both daughters.
Island Cruises became the third subsidiary and, as a joint venture with the British First Choice Holidays , secured access to the markets of Great Britain and Brazil .
In November 2006 Royal Caribbean Cruises bought Pullmantur Cruises in Madrid ( Spain ) and in May 2007 Azamara Club Cruises was formed as a subsidiary of Celebrity Cruises . In May 2008 there was also CDF Croisières de France for French-speaking customers and TUI Cruises together with the German TUI AG for the German-speaking market. TUI Cruises took over Hapag-Lloyd Cruises in 2020 .
In May 2015, SkySea Cruises was founded, a company focusing on the Chinese market. Royal Caribbean held 35 percent of the company and CTRIP held 35 percent . The remaining 30 percent are with Stone Capital. The brand was abandoned in 2018.
In 2018, Royal Caribbean Cruises joined Silversea Cruises and took over the shipping company completely in 2020.

From 2002 to 2008, Royal Caribbean Cruises held 50% of the shares in Island Cruises .
Admiral Cruises
Admiral Cruises was founded in 1986 and acquired by Royal Caribbean in 1988. The brand was discontinued in 1992. Admiral Cruises operated the cruise ships Azure Seas , Emerald Seas and Stardancer . In addition, Admiral Cruises had ordered the Future Seas , which, however, came underway as Empress of the Seas for Royal Caribbean International after the takeover by Royal Caribbean .
CDF Croisières de France
CDF Croisières de France was founded in 2007 as a subsidiary of Pullmantur Cruises and entered the market in 2008. Royal Caribbean initially held 100%, but sold 51% to Springwater Capital in 2016 . CDF ceased operations in 2017. CDF operated the cruise ships Bleu de France (2007-2011), Horizon and Zenith
SkySea Cruises
SkySea Cruises was founded in 2015 as a joint venture with CTrip . Royal Caribbean held 35% of SkySea Cruises. SkySea Cruises operated the only cruise ship SkySea Golden Era from 2015 to 2018 . The brand was abandoned in 2018.
Pullmantur Cruises
Pullmantur Cruises was founded in the 1990s. In 2006, Pullmantur Cruises was 100% taken over by Royal Caribbean. However, in 2014 sold 51% to Springwater Capital in 2016 . In 2020, the company filed for bankruptcy. Wamos Air (formerly: Pullmantur Air) also belonged to Pullmantur.
