The Silversea Cruises, Ltd. , known as Silversea for short , operates luxury cruise liners . The company's ships go to destinations in almost all parts of the world and are on the move all year round.
Companies
The company was founded in the early 1990s with the idea of offering a higher standard than other cruise lines through more style and comfort. The operation began with a single ship, the Silver Cloud for almost 300 passengers. Later, the shipping company gradually ordered larger ships, so the last built Silver Muse can accommodate almost 600 people.
The company is headquartered in Monaco . The offices are located in Fort Lauderdale , London , Singapore and Sydney , among others . Until 2018 it was owned by the Roman Lefebvre family. In 2018, Royal Caribbean Cruises took over 66.7% of the company's shares for $ 1 billion and the remaining shares in July 2020.

The ships are relatively small with 132 to 540 passengers. This is intended to offer a higher level of luxury on the one hand, and to be able to call at ports off the usual routes on the other.

In September 2017, a sister ship of the Silver Muse , the Silver Moon , was ordered from Fincantieri with delivery in 2020. In May 2018, another sister ship, the Silver Dawn , was ordered for delivery in 2021. In October 2018, two newbuildings were ordered from Meyer Werft subject to financing with delivery from 2022, as well as the Silver Origin from De Hoop. Construction of the Silver Origin began on October 8, 2018.
Personalized trips
Silversea was the first to offer personalized travel . With this program, passengers are able to choose their port of departure and destination themselves. This enables travelers to create their own cruises. However, the routes of the intermediate stations cannot be freely chosen.
