The purple-flowered loosestrife is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 65 cm. The leaves are alternate and measure 5 to 10 × 0.6 to 1.5 centimeters. The upper ones are lanceolate, the lower spatulate. The inflorescence is a terminal cluster. The flowers are six-fold. The crown is purple.

The flowering period extends from May to October.

Occurrence

The purple-flowered loosestrife occurs in the Balkans and Turkey in moist, sandy locations.
