Pygmaeocereus familiaris is a species of plant in the genus Pygmaeocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Pygmaeocereus familiaris grows richly branched and forms cushions with green shoots up to 2 centimeters long and 1 to 2.2 centimeters in diameter. The 10 to 12 (rarely 9 to 14) ribs are 2 to 3 millimeters high and divided into cusps . The 4 to 10 fine to a little strong, brown to black central spines are 1 to 2 millimeters long. The 15 to 25 white radial spines are 1.5 to 3 millimeters long.

The funnel-shaped, white flowers are up to 8 inches long. They have a slim and long flower tube. Nothing is known about the fruit .

Distribution and systematics

Pygmaeocereus familiaris is common in the Peruvian region of Arequipa in the districts of Chala and Atico . It was first described in 1981 by Friedrich Ritter .
