Pyljawa ( Ukrainian Пилява ; Russian Пилява Piljawa , Polish Piławce ) is a village in the east of the Ukrainian Oblast Khmelnyzkyj with about 450 inhabitants (2015).
In the village, founded in 1420 and first mentioned in writing in 1501 , the Battle of Pyljawzi , named after the village, took place in 1648, during the Khmelnytskyi uprising , during which the Polish army was defeated by the Zaporozhian Cossacks .
Until 2015, Pyljawa was the administrative center of the 50.83 km² district council of the same name in the west of Stara Synjawa Rajon and has since been part of the Stara Synjawa settlement community. In 2001 the village still had 672 inhabitants.
The village is located on the banks of the Ikwa ( Іква ), a 56 km long, left tributary of the Southern Bug , 14 km west of the district center Stara Synjawa and 50 km northeast of the Oblast center Khmelnytskyi .
