Qlīpōt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Qliphoth ( Hebrew sg. קליפה qliphah 'shell', 'shell', pl. קליפות qliphoth ), also Q e lippot or Klippot , are metaphorical enveloping bowls around “sparks of divine light emanation ”. They are synonymous with impure spiritual forces, sources of spiritual, religious impurity, in that God is assigned a dualistic entity and Sitra Achra (סטרא אחרא 'other side'), the other side in opposition to divine holiness. Qliphoth are synonymous with idolatry ( idolatry ) and impure spiritual forces, sources of spiritual, religious impurity, in that false dualistic , trinitarian or multiple entities are attributed to God . According to Jewish teaching, the Christian belief in a triune God is idolatry ( Avoda sara ).

Jewish Kabbalah

A mystical direction within the Spanish Kabbalah , to which the author of the pseudepigraphic Zohar was close, starts from a left emanation, which contrasts the ten "holy" Sephiroth with ten "unholy" or "impure" ones. According to the Zohar interpretation of Genesis , God created other worlds before the creation of the present world and destroyed them again because of their imperfection. The kings of Edom are regarded as their typification . According to Zohar, the remnants of these worlds have been preserved as bowls (Hebrew Qliphoth ) and represent idolatry and spiritual impurity in the world (the “back”, Hebrew סטרא אחרא sitra achra “other side”). They still contain “sparks of holiness” (Hebrew nizzozoth schel k e duschah ). Evil is seen as the manifestation of the fifth Sephirā Gewurah (Din), separated from the balancing power of the fourth Sephirā.

The Lurian Kabbalah understands Qliphoth to be the shards of the inner six Sephiroth vessels, which could not withstand the flow of the infinite light of En Sof and therefore broke ( Schwirat ha-Kelim ). However, they persisted in the world. They are spiritual obstacles that have their existence from God (אור Or 'light') in an external rather than internal sense. They appear in the descending order Seder hishtalschelut (Hebrew סדר השתלשלות 'order of evolution') through Tzimtzum (God's self-contraction from his own midst) for the purpose of creating the world. Divinity in Judaism means the one and only reality of God. Qlīpōt, however, cover them up like bowls cover the contained fruit. Qlīpōt are therefore synonymous with idolatry ( idolatry ) and sitra achra . Qliphoth as metaphorically veiled bowls also have good properties. Just as peels protect the fruit, they prevent the metaphysical divine light emanation from (uncontrolled) being scattered. Kabbalah distinguishes between different Qlīpōt realms, three completely impure and one moderately impure. Its four concentric expressions are taken from the Merkaba vision of Ezekiel . Like the Sephiroth, they send out sparks ( niṣōṣōt ), which mix with the sparks of the Sephiroth and immigrate into the souls, so that each soul has an individual mix of good and bad parts, but which can be harmonized and transformed.

occultism

Currents of occultism and the left hand path have developed their own concepts of Qliphoth (alternatively: Qlippoth , Kelippot , Kliffot ). The Qliphoth are identified as either demons or regions native to them. Aleister Crowley speaks of them as three embodiments of the forms of evil (before Samael ): Qemetial , Belial and Othiel (see Liber 777 ). Israel Regardie even sets up its own tree of ten Qlīpōt facing the Sephiroth:

upper qlīpōt:

1. Thaumiel, Thamiel (Hebrew təɁōmiʕēl ): God's twin
Associated demons: Satan , Moloch
2. Ghagiel, Chaigidel: Confusion of God's Power
assigned demons: Beelzebub , Adam Belial
3. Sathariel: hiding God
Associated demon: Lucifuge Rofocale

middle qlīpōt:

1. Gha'agsheblah, Gamchicoth: the ogres
assigned demons: Astaroth , Ištar , Isis
2. Golachab: burning body
Associated demon: Asmodaeus
3. Thagirion: those who spread grief and tears
assigned demon: Belphegor

lower qlīpōt:

1. A'arab Zaraq, Harab Serapel: the ravens of God's burning
Associated demons: Baal , Tubal-Cain
2. Samael : God's desolation, the left hand
Associated demon: Adramelech
3. Gamaliel: God's defilement
assigned demon: Lilith

lowest qlīpā:

Associated demon: Naama (h), Nehema

The original Kabbalah only knows four Qliphoth (Bill Heidrick and Éliphas Lévi : La clef des grands mystères ).

Kashmiri Shaivism

In the Kashmiri Shaivism (9th century AD) of the path to the right hand , there is a similar model: Ishvara emits (corresponding to En Sof) the Sadvidya- Tattva (light), which interacts with the Maya-Tattva (darkness Anger) creates five envelopes (Kanchukas) around the Purusha ( Shuddhashuddha Tattvas ), the precursors of the other five elements of the mental plane, which are also positive and negative. The spirit sparks are referred to here as tma-anu.
