action

Thérèse Voise leaves the monastery after the death of her parents and runs her parents' stationery shop together with her sister Denise. Denise soon starts a relationship with the amateur boxer and auto mechanic Max. Max has numerous relationships with various women. When he meets Denise, he rapes her. Therese Max then threatens to report him to the police if he doesn't take care of her. Max later confesses to Thérèse that he fell in love with her, but she remains suspicious. His plan to go to Tangier with her and start a new life there is rejected by her. Later, Max is run over by a train while trying to escape. Thérèse then goes back to the monastery.
