action
Moreau is tasked with looking for the French diplomat Fèvre-Berthier, who has disappeared without a trace in New York . Together with the photographer Delmas, they visit women whom the disappeared person knew. They find Fèvre-Berthier dead in a friend's apartment. While Moreau is instructed by his boss to remain silent on the case, Delmas tries to sell his paintings. The two of them were followed by a car the whole time. It turns out that this is Fèvre-Berthier's daughter, who wants to cherish the memory of her father, a resistance fighter in the Resistance , and wants to prevent the compromising images of Delmas from circulating. Moreau helps the daughter and gets into an argument with Delmas.
criticism
"A gloomy film with a semi-documentary camera and good acting skills, which also appeals to the cynicism of the press, but is primarily interested in an atmospherically dense description of the nocturnal metropolis of New York."
