Familiar Strangers (original title: Quartier lointain ) is a Belgian film by the director Sam Garbarski .

action

The plot loosely follows the manga Confidante Stranger by Jirō Taniguchi , who also has a short guest appearance at the end. The film is about 50-year-old Thomas , who happened to pass his childhood home and took the opportunity to visit his mother's grave. There he makes a leap back in time 36 years and is suddenly 14 years old again.

criticism

“A comic adaptation that is appealing in terms of image design and equipment, reminiscent of the original in the style of the 1960s, but does not bring the characters and their environment to life. The question of real life is lost in the graphic surfaces. "
