Queen's Blade Rebellion ( Japanese ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド リ ベ リ オ ン , Kuīnzu Bureido Riberion ) is the continuation of Queen's Blade of a playbook series by Hobby Japan . The series was adapted as a light novel , manga , anime and radio play.

action

After the winner of the four-year Queen's Blade tournament to determine the new queen did not accept her position, the well-respected Claudette was crowned the new queen. To bring freedom and equality to the people, it abolished the nobility and unjust taxes and resolved internal military conflicts. After a year, however, this increased into a reign of terror and Claudette declared herself the "eternal queen".

Annelotte whose family was wiped out by the king gathers like-minded people and starts a rebellion against the queen to bring peace back to the country.

In addition, the swamp witch tries to bring the continent under her power and as a first step has cursed many participants in the Queen's Blade tournament and thus potential opponents.

Characters

Rebels

Annelotte ( 叛乱 の 騎士 姫 ア ン ネ ロ ッ テ , Hanran no Kishihime Annerotte , German "Knight Princess of the Rebellion Annelotte")
Speaker: Aya Endo
Annelotte is the daughter of Margrave Kreuz ( ク ロ イ ツ 辺 境 伯 , Kuroitsu-henkyōhaku ), but was raised by him as a boy. She was also a member of the Knightly Order, which was considered the strongest on the continent before it was destroyed by the queen's troops. She has great charisma and friendly nature with which she was able to gather more companions around her, all of whom they see as her big sister, and became the leader of the rebel army. Occasionally her semi-demonic nature comes to the fore, with her fair hair turning black, her eyes red, her silver armor golden and she fights like a berserk. In this form she is called "Mad Knight Annelotte" ( 狂 騎士 バ ー ジ ョ ン ). She fights with a sword that can also be used as a lance.
Yuit ( 錬 金 軍師 ユ イ ッ ト , Renkin Gunshi Yuitto , German "Alchemy strategist Yuit")
Speaker: Minori Chihara
Yuit belongs to the breed of Little Elf ( リ ト ル ル ル フ , Ritoru Erufu ). She and Annelotte have known each other since childhood, whom she calls "big brother" ( onii-chan ). She is the rebel military strategist. In combat, she uses the remote-controlled Vante machine built by her mother, the great alchemist Cyan.
Vante ( 錬 金鋼 人 ヴ ァ ン テ , Renkin Kōjin Vante , dt. "Alchemy steel man Vante")
Speaker: Yukiko Takaguchi
Vante is with clockwork driven machine ( clockwork automaton , クロックワーク·オートマトン , kurokkuwōku ōtomaton ) in human size. It serves as Yuit's playmate and weapon and is controlled via a kind of remote control by means of runes written on it.
Eilin ( 宝石 姫 エ イ リ ン , Hōsekihime Eirin , dt. "Gemstone Princess Eirin")
Speaker: Suzuko Mimori
Eilin is a dwarf princess from Edelsteinberg and her goal is to increase the prosperity of her tribe. Her business acumen and her negotiating skills help her to become one of the wealthiest on the continent. She is Ymir's cousin, whom she respects, and joins the rebels to show Ymir how strong she has become. She fights her body length with a hammer.
Tarnyang & Sainyang ( 対 魔 師 タ ー ニ ャ ン & サ イ ニ ャ ン , Taimashi Tānyan & Sainyan , German "Antidemon Masters Tarnyang & Sainyang")
Speaker: Haruka Tomatsu & Kei Shindō
Tarnyang & Sainyang are twins from Shaifan, a remote, unexplored region in the north of the continent, which developed a peculiar culture similar to that of China. The twins are unequal: Tarnyang does not put up with anything and has a cheerful character, while Sainyang is rather cowardly and calm, and usually whispers in her sister's ear while talking. Both are linked by a real, inseparable bond and form a unit in battle, in which Tarnyang fights with the sword and Sainyang with magic.
Lunaluna ( 月 影 / 太陽 の 踊 り 手 ル ナ ル ナ , Getsuei / Taiyō no Odorite Runaruna , German "moonlight / sun dancer Lunaluna")
Speaker: Harumi Sakurai
Lunaluna comes from a jungle around the south of the continent, where she guards the ruins. She greets intruders with either an enchanting dance or a dance of death. In addition, four tentacles extend from her hair so that she can fight effectively with six hands. In addition to this warlike nature as a dark-skinned "moonlight dancer" ( Getsuei no Odorite ), she also has a second one of an innocent girl. In this form she has a light skin and is called "Sun Dancer" ( Taiyō no Odorite ).
In contrast to the other characters, this figure was created as part of an idea call on the website for Queen's Blade Rebellion .
Izumi ( 戦 神 の 侍 イ ズ ミ , Senshin no Samurai Izumi , dt. "Samurai of the god of war Izumi")
Speaker: Minako Kotobuki
Izumi is a peasant girl who falsely pretended to be a samurai and therefore had to leave her home in Hinomoto (Japan) and fled to the continent. There she met Annelotte and followed her. She fights with a nodachi , but can also use a flute to increase the fighting strength of herself and others.
Maria ( 幻影 の 戦 士 マ リ ア , Gen'ei no Senshi Maria , German "phantom warrior Maria")
Speaker: Ayako Kawasumi
Maria is a masked warrior who fights the queen. Because of a curse, she has to sleep at least 16 hours a day and often falls asleep in the middle of actions.

Neutral

Branwen ( 囚 わ れ の 竜 戦 士 ブ ラ ン ウ ェ ン , Toware no Ryūsenshi Buranwen , dt. "Captured dragon warrior Branwen")
Speaker: Kikuko Inoue
Branwen is descended from dragons, and such people are considered extremely noble and venerated. To protect the life of her dragon, she is forced to fight as the slave of the goblin Dogura as a gladiator in the arena of the swamp witch. She is armed with an old shield and a rusty sword, as well as a heavy iron ball on her legs.
Laila ( 神 罰 の 執行 者 ラ イ ラ , Shinbatsu no Shikkōsha Raira , dt. " Executor of God's punishment Laila")
Speaker: Satomi Satō
Laila is a half-angel and works as an apprentice under the angel Nanael, whom she sent to earth to clean up the chaos as "executor of God's punishment".

queen

Claudette ( 雷雲 の 女王 ク ロ ー デ ッ ト , Raiun no Joō Kurōdetto , German " Thundercloud Queen Claudette")
Speaker: Atsuko Tanaka
Claudette is a tyrannical queen whose reign was just beginning, becoming increasingly cruel over time. This is due to the “curse of reinforcement” ( 増 幅 の 呪 い , zōfuku no noroi ) of the swamp witch, who also unduly reinforced her view of respecting law and order.
Ymir ( 鋼 鉄 参謀 ユ ー ミ ル , Kōtetsu no Sanbō Yūmiru , German "steel rod (boss) Ymir")
Speaker: Ayaka Saitō
Ymir is a dwarf princess who entered her service after Claudette broke her weapon due to her tradition. There she showed great strategic talent, so that she was promoted to chief of staff. She also used her knowledge of alchemy to arm the king's army. In contrast to the previous series, her character has changed so much - she is less tearful and has apparently overcome her phobia of snakes - that she looks like a different person to old friends. She fights with two battle axes.
Elina ( 牙 を 統 べ る 者 エ リ ナ , Kiba o Suberu Erina , German "Kiba controlling Elina")
Speaker: Kaori Mizuhashi
Elina is the half-sister of Queen Claudette and the leader of the secret police ( 牙 の 暗殺 団 , Kiba no Ansatsudan , for example: "Assassination Squad 'Fang'"). She has a sadistic and cruel character, which is why she is more feared than the queen. In addition, she has only contempt for others, with the exception of her family, whereby she especially loves her sister Reina (obsessively). Although this is missing, so that in contrast to the previous series Queen's Blade, she is only in a worse mood, she does not go to search to the amazement of her surroundings. Elina fights with a short spear with whip functionality.
Mirim ( 超 振動 戦 乙 女 ミ リ ム , Chōshindō Ikusa Otome Mirimu , German "Supervibrations- Valkyrie Mirim")
Speaker: Aki Toyosaki
Mirim is a simple country girl with a rather timid character who couldn't harm a fly. In search of work to support her poor family, she becomes Ymir's research subject. She equips them with a “super vibration armor” that makes them almost invincible, and a “super vibration sword” that is more like a chainsaw.
Sigui ( 異端 審問 官 シ ギ ィ , Itanshinmonkan Shigi , German "Inquisitor Sigui")
Speaker: Yū Kobayashi
Sigui is an inquisitor of the church, whose job it is to surrender devil worshipers, pagans, but also vicious believers to death in flames. Since she takes this very seriously, is inflexible and tends to judge others too quickly, she is considered cruel, but otherwise has a virtuous character. She fights with her "Hammer Halberd of the Holy Flame" ( 聖 炎 の 槌 鉾 ) and her "Divine Chain Sword" ( 神 鎖 剣 ) against the rebels, as she considers them to be a haven of heresy, especially because of the demon blood of Annelotte. In addition, a Divine Power is also used (神聖 力デ ィ ヴ ァ イ ン パ ワ ー, divain pawā ) called magic, which she triggers with “holy poses” ( 聖 な る ポ ー ズ , seinaru pōzu ) - obscene poses for outsiders.
Aldra ( 召喚 士 ア ル ド ラ , Shōkanshi Arudora , Eng . "Summoner Aldra")
Speaker: Ayana Taketatsu
The half-demon Aldra was the former queen possessed by the demon Delmore, who gave her superhuman strength but also stopped her growth. After her defeat and his expulsion, she returned to her adult form, but lost her memory, except for the fact that she is looking for her sister. In Rebellion she is a newly married loving wife, which is also symbolized by the fact that her clothes are essentially just an apron ( hadaka apron ) and lace panties . To protect her husband, she decided to fight, using a paddle from her work as a gondolier, but also summoned two demons from the underworld: Belphe ( ベ ル フ ェ , professions ) and Dogor ( ド ゴ ー ル , Dogōru ). However, they plan to eat Aldra when the opportunity arises.

Swamp witch

Werbellia ( 沼地 の 魔女 ウ ェ ル ベ リ ア , Numachi no Majo Weruberia , German "swamp witch Werbellia")
Speaker: Junko Minagawa
The swamp witch appeared 100 years ago and tries to turn the entire continent into a wasteland. She is well versed in necromancy, conjuration, and curses. So she cursed many participants in the last Queen's Blade tournament for her goal , because they were the strongest warriors. However, her strength depends on her host, with whom she has found the right person in the Devil's daughter, Werbellia, to use her full potential. She is also the mother of Annelotte and Aldra.
Captain Liliana ( 大 海賊 キ ャ プ テ ン ・ リ リ ア ナ , Daikaizoku Kyaputen Ririana , German "Great Pirate Captain Liliana")
Speaker: Shizuka Itō
Liliana was a feared pirate captain who, however, found her wet grave through a sea monster. She was revived by the swamp witch and controls a ghost ship and skeleton crew with which she is plundering again. She follows "pirate aesthetics" ( 海賊 の 美学 , kaizoku no bigaku ) called rules, which were written by her grandmother the pirate queen Artemis, which on the one hand provide that the end justifies every means, but always to be polite and elegant, whereby Liliana has a weak point for older women. She fights with a rapier and a crossbow.
Melona ( 千 変 の 謀略 者 メ ロ ー ナ , Senpen no Bōryakusha Merōna , dt. "Sly of the thousand changes Melona")
Speaker: Rie Kugimiya
Melona is a shapeshifter in the service of the swamp witch. She poses as Ymir.

publication

Game books

Queen's Blade Rebellion is an expansion of the Queen's Blade playbooks to include new figures or remakes of two existing figures. Using the game books, a role play takes place between two players, in which each player takes a book. Each book represents one or more characters and contains a character sheet with the possible actions and attacks, which remains with the player, while the opponent receives the book in which the effects of the individual actions are listed. The book also contains the background story and illustrations for each character. This game system was in turn licensed by Flying Buffalo's game book series Lost Worlds and is compatible with this. If the rules of Queen's Blade are used, figures from Queen's Blade (Rebellion) can therefore be played against those from Lost Worlds .

At Queen's Blade Rebellion published 12 books game at Hobby Japan. Another was announced in June 2012 about the swamp witch Werbellia, illustrated by Matsuryū.

Illustrated [rated] stories and visual books

On Hobby Japan's website Toretate! Hobby Channel ( と れ た て! ほ び ー ち ゃ ん ね る , Toretate! Hobīchanneru ) published three volumes of illustrated stories, each with 10 chapters, called Illust Story . These were then summarized in three volumes called Visual Books, which supplemented them with further chapters. These stories form the canonical plot of the series.

The first appeared from November 5, 2008 to March 18, 2009. The anthology called Queen's Blade Rebellion: Bitōshi Senki ( ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド リ ベ リ オ ン 美 美 闘 士 戦 記 ; ISBN 978-4-89425-936-2 ) was published on September 26th 2009 and also contained two additional chapters and a radio play.

The sequel “Queen's Blade Rebellion” Illust Story - Gekidō-hen ( 『ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド リ ベ リ オ ン』 イ ラ ス ト ス ト ト ー リ ー ~ 激動 編 ~ , “~ - Aufruhr”) by author Tomohiro Matsu ran from April 3, 2010 to December 8, 2009 Queen's Blade Rebellion: Bitōshi Senki: Gekidō-hen ( ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド リ ベ リ オ ン 美 闘 士 戦 記 激動 編 ) was published on October 5, 2010 in a normal ( ISBN 978-4-7986-0095-4-6 ) and a limited version ( ISBN 97895-4-6) -7986-0096-3 ), each with four additional chapters and a radio play. The limited version also contains a 1: 8 scale figure from Sainyang.

The last story "Queen's Blade Rebellion" Illust Story - Kessen-hen ( 「クイーンズブレイドリベリオン」イラストストーリー~決戦編~ "~ - decisive battle") with Age Okita ( 沖田栄次 , Okita Eiji ) as an author appeared on the website of December 8, 2011 to April 27, 2012. The anthology Queen's Blade Rebellion: Bitōshi Senki: Kessen-hen ( ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド リ ベ リ オ ン 美 闘 士 戦 戦 記 決 戦 編 ) followed on July 28, 2012 in a normal ( ISBN 978-4-7986-0406 -0 ) and a limited version ( ISBN 978-4-7986-0407-7 ) again with additional chapters, a radio play and the limited version with a figure by Branwen. These additional chapters form the conclusion of the plot.

Adaptations

Light novel

Hobby Japan also had the playbook series adapted as a light novel (illustrated novel). This was written by Ukyō Kodachi , who previously implemented Macross Frontier as a light novel cycle, but is also a pen & paper role-playing game and replay author. The illustrations were contributed by Sambasō. The first and so far only volume Queen's Blade Rebellion 1: Kedakaki Chikai ( ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド リ ベ リ オ ン 1 気 高 き 誓 い , Kuīnzu Bureido Riberion 1: Kedakaki Chikai , "~: The noble Eid" (974-89425-8 ) was released on June 30, 2009 887-7).

Manga

At Queen's Blade Rebellion emerged two manga series.

The first Queen's Blade Rebellion: Seiran no Kishihime ( ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド リ ベ リ オ ン 青 嵐 の 騎士 姫 , Kuīnzu Bureido Riberion: Seiran no Kishihime ) started on October 26, 2011 in issue 12/2011 of Kadokawa Comp Ace Shoten's manga magazine . The drawings are by Iku Nanzaki, who was previously hired for the Queen's Blade manga Hide & Seek . So far (as of August 2012) the chapters were summarized in an anthology ( Tankōbon ), which appeared on March 22, 2012.

The second Queen's Blade Rebellion: Zero ( ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド リ ベ リ オ ン: ZERO, Kuīnzu Bureido Riberion: Zero ) has been published since December 2, 2011 with the launch of Hobby Japan's web manga magazine Comic Dangan . The drawings are from Riri Sagara. An anthology, which was published on April 2, 2012, has also appeared on this so far.

Anime

OVA

The Artbooks Queen's Blade Premium Visual Book ( クイーンズブレイドプレミアムビジュアルブック, Kuīnzu Bureido: Puremiamu Bijuaru BUKKU ) and Queen's Blade Rebellion Premium Visual Book ( クイーンズブレイドリベリオンプレミアムビジュアルブック, Kuīnzu Bureido Riberion: Puremiamu Bijuaru BUKKU ) each contained a two-part " Original Video Animation "series.

The were animated by Studio Arms under the direction of Yōsei Morino . At least for the first OVA, the character designer Rin-Sin and the composer Masaru Yokoyama were taken over by the Queen's Blade anime. The voice actors were identical to those of the radio plays.

The first OVA Queen's Blade: Aratanaru Shitei, Aratanaru Tatakai ( ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド 新 た な る 師弟 、 新 た な る 闘 い , dt. "~: A new teacher and student, a new fight") was released on October 29, 2011. Although nominally part of Queen's Blade however, forms the prologue of Queen's Blade Rebellion . This is about the destruction of Annelotte's homeland by the queen's troops and her training with the last surviving wood elf in her village, Alleyne, and her curse by the swamp witch. In addition, there is a bonus episode on the DVD called Alleyne Kyōkan no Nama Shigoki Boot Camp ( ア レ イ ン 教官 の 生 し ご き ブ ー ト キ ャ ン プ , Arein Kyōkan Nama Shigoki Būto Kyanpu , dt. "Alleyne's rough boot campes training teacher") shows during their training.

The second OVA Queen's Blade Rebellion: Seijo no Hanmon - Shinkō no Tobira wa, Mata Hiraku ( ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド リ ベ リ オ ン 聖女 聖女 の 煩悶 〜 信仰 の 扉 は 、 、 ま た 開 く 〜 , dt. "~:. The souls opens again ”) was released on January 28, 2012 and is about the meeting between Ymir and Sigui shortly before they take up their respective posts. The bonus episode Sigui no Seinaru Pose Shippori Lesson ( シ ギ ィ の 聖 な る ポ ー ズ し っ ぽ り レ ッ ス ン , Shigi no Seinaru Pōzu Shippori Ressun , dt. "Sigui's passionate holy pose lessons") is again about Sigui's training methods.

Another two-part OVA series is planned for 2013 as a supplement to a premium visual book , with the art book Vanquished Queens serving as the basis for action .

Television series

The production of an adaptation as an anime series was announced on October 22, 2011. For this purpose, the studio and the staff of the OVAs were taken over. In addition to Rin-Sin, Takayuki Noguchi and Yukiko Ishibashi were added as character designers, the first two also being responsible for the artistic direction.

The plot differs significantly from that published by Hobby Japan in Illust Stories and Visual Books .

The first broadcast of the 12 episodes took place from April 3 to June 19, 2012 on AT-X , and shortly after midnight (and thus on the previous TV day ) from April 12 on Chiba TV and Sun TV and from April 13 on Tokyo MX and by satellite on BS11 . From June 27, 2012, it was released on DVD and Blu-Ray, with six planned by November 28, 2012. Each should also contain a four-minute extra, as was the case with the two anime series for Queen's Blade before.

An English version of Queen's Blade Rebellion was streamed on Crunchyroll on April 11, 2012 for the regions USA , Canada , the United Kingdom , Ireland , South Africa , Australia and New Zealand . It was also licensed by Sentai Filmworks , which usually make DVD and Blu-Ray releases.

The song Inochi no Uta ga Kikoeru ( 命 の う た が 聞 こ え る , "To hear the song of life"), which was written and sung by the rock singer Naomi Tamura, was used as the opening title, the melody being derived from yamazo. Future is serious was used in the credits , written by Norway, composed by Yow-Row and sung by Aika Kobayashi. Both singles were released on April 25, 2012.

Artbooks

Hobby Japan published an artbook called Vanquished Queens ( ヴ ァ ン キ ッ シ ュ ド ・ ク イ ー ン ズ , Vankisshudo Kuīnzu ) on August 31, 2011 in a normal ( ISBN 978-4-7986-0223-3 ) and a limited version ( ISBN 978-4-7986- 0221-9 ). This artbook contains illustrations of the individual characters at the moment of their total defeat; H. in degrading poses. The limited version also includes a 1:12 scale Revoltech figure by Annelotte. A second volume was scheduled to appear on November 30, 2012, with a Revoltech figure by Branwen attached to the limited version, and a third volume on September 30, 2014. 4 OVA episodes of the art books have been published so far (as of December 2014).

On January 28, 2012 the art book Queen's Blade Rebellion Premium Visual Book was published .

Not an art book in the actual sense, but related to it is the Mook ( case word from magazine and book ) Master of Queen's Blade Excellent !! Vol. 2 (MASTER OF ク イ ー ン ズ ブ レ イ ド EXCELLENT !! VOL.2; ISBN 978-4-7986-0373-5 ) from March 31, 2012. This contains photographs of figures for the Queen's Blade franchise, mainly all new releases from the manufacturer Megahouse since the first volume on February 13, 2009. Most of the characters featured are from Queen's Blade Rebellion .
