Rämisgummen [ (d̥ə) ræmisˈg̊ʊmə ] is the name of a corridor on the western flank of the Rämisgummenhogers ( 1,300.5 m above sea level ) on the border between the communities of Eggiwil in the canton of Bern and Marbach in the canton of Lucerne . It extends over a length of about 1.5 km and consists of three farms (from north to south): Vorder , Mittler and Hinter Rämisgummen .
Surname
The Rämisgummen has been documented since 1531 (Rämiss guman) . The name is a combination of the basic word gumme , which is likely to be a Gaulish * cumbā “hollow, deepening” borrowed from Romansh ; In Entlebuch , the word Kum (m) e with the meaning 'deep water container, cistern' is said to have been in use at the beginning of the 19th century . The fore term can be based on a personal name or, given the very frequent occurrence of this name component, perhaps also on an appellative , a further training in Swiss German Rame 'frame, frame' is proposed . A connection with the north-east adjoining basin called Gummen should be considered .
