The Réserve écologique Thomas-Fortin is a 117.86 hectare protected area established in 1990 in the south of the Canadian province of Québec in the regional county municipality of Charlevoix .

It is 50 km northwest of Baie-Saint-Paul and east of the Parc national des Grands-Jardins . It belongs to the more than 7,800 km² Réserve faunique des Laurentides , the species protection area for the Laurentine Mountains . The reserve represents the higher elevations of this mountain range. At the time the park was set up, barely 10,000 of the approximately 250,000 hectares of forest in the region had escaped deforestation, the greater part in the upper valley of the Rivière Malbaie , where the small protected area is now.

The hilly, sometimes steep nature reserve is between 860 and 1030  m above sea level. The rock consists mainly of granite , on top of which there is a thin layer of Tillit , which is somewhat thicker in the lower layers. Some sinks offer thick layers of organic material. The Podsol (bleach or gray earth) is moist and rich in iron, there are small Moore of low height.

The most common tree species are black spruce , paper birch and white spruce .

The reserve was named after Thomas Fortin (1858–1941), one of the best experts on the forest areas, who had proposed the establishment of the Parc des Laurentides as early as 1895 . He became its first inspector, a job he did for four decades.
