Western hackberry
Cardamine bulbosa from the genus of the foamy herbs
Impatiens capensis
Big-eared sunfish

In addition to the silver maple , the focus of conservation efforts is primarily on the endangered plant species Western hackberry ( Celtis occidentalis ) from the hackberry genus and Cardamine bulbosa from the foamy herb genus .

Among the fish, the Lepomis megalotis in particular , the large-eared sunfish, locally called crapet à longues oreilles , is extremely rare .

The park area lies at a height of 24  m and is mainly characterized by the floods of the Rivière du Nord, which take place every spring. From the Carillon Bay (Baie de Carillon) with its slight gradient, the terrain rises barely more than a meter to the dune-like sand deposits.

In addition to the silver maple, there are the red ash and the American elm as well as saule noir (Salix niger) from the genus of willow . Only a few herbs grow in the park area, such as Laportea canadensis from the nettle family . Onoclea sensibilis from the family of worm ferns or ostrich fern , which in Québec is called matteuccie fougère-à-l'autruche or fougère allemande ('ostrich' or 'German fern'), also grows in inaccessible areas . Certain aisles, which go back to long-ago felling, offer reed cane grass (phalaris roseau) and Impatiens capensis . Bushes such as the western button bush ( Cephalanthus occidentalis ), a hardy wood of the red family , can be found as well as Salix cordata and Salix nigra .
