The Río Ñambí is a 70 km long left tributary of the Río Telembí in the Departamento de Nariño in southwest Colombia .

River course

The Río Ñambí rises in the Colombian Western Cordillera at an altitude of about 1600  m , 6 km northeast of the village of Altaquer . The Río Ñambí initially flows 5 km to the west and then turns to the north. It flows along the western flank of the Andes. At river kilometer 11 the Río Yaculá meets the Río Ñambí from the left, at river kilometer 7 the Río Pali from the right. This finally flows 13 km east of the city of Barbacoas into the west-flowing Telembí River.

Catchment area

The catchment area covers an area of ​​around 900 km². On the course of the Río Ñambí is the 1400 hectare nature reserve Río Ñambí, which protects a rainforest in the foothills of the Andes at altitudes between 1100 and 1900 m with a very high biodiversity (especially hummingbirds ).
