The Río Limay is a 380 km long river in Argentina .

It is an outflow of Lake Nahuel Huapi and flows through northwest Patagonia to the city of Neuquén , where it forms the Río Negro through the confluence with the Río Neuquén . Its main tributaries include the Río Traful , Río Pichileufú and the Río Collón Curá .

About a quarter of the hydroelectric energy in Argentina is generated by the 5 hydroelectric power plants on the Río Limay. Their dams have also changed the course of the river so that its original length has been reduced from 450 kilometers to 380 kilometers.
