The Río Negro (Spanish for "black river") in the Pando department in Bolivia is a right tributary of the Río Abuná in the Amazon lowlands in South America .

River course

The upper reaches of the river are formed by various smaller rivers that have their origins in the province of Abuná near the municipality of San Juan de Nuevo Mundo . The river has a total length of 381 kilometers and flows first 30 kilometers in a southeast direction, then 30 kilometers to the northeast, 50 kilometers to the east, then 190 kilometers to the northeast and the remaining 80 kilometers in a northerly direction. The river flows into the Río Abuná on the border between Bolivia and Brazil .

The Bolivian settlement of Río Negro is located at the mouth of the Río Negro .
